Enable or Disable Efficiency Mode in Microsoft Edge

This article will discuss how to Enable or Disable Efficiency Mode in Microsoft Edge. Efficiency Mode helps to extend the battery life and performance with minimum usage for power and reduction of CPU usage of the device. CPU usage is reduced by making tabs inactive when users do not interact with them.

What are the Advantages?

Some of the advantages I have already explained but a few more are described below:

  • It minimizes browser resource usage
  • It helps the OS to keep focus on its resources
  • Performance maintenance.

How to do it?

The process is simple to enable this feature,

  • Open Microsoft Edge Browser
  • Click on the three dots at the top right corner of the Microsoft Edge browser to open Settings.
  • Select Settings from the Settings and More menu.

  • Open the “System and Performance”. Check the “Optimize Performance” section.

  • Here you can see the efficiency mode feature on the right side of the window.
  • Toggle right to turn on this feature.
  • Once you enable the feature, you can see the Balanced savings and Maximum savings.
  • Select the Balance Saving option
  • Switch on the “Turn on efficiency mode when connected to power” option, when your device is connected to power, it will turn on efficiency mode to help improve your device’s power consumption.
  • Some more features are also recommended to enable i.e., “Save resources with sleeping tabs”, “Fade sleeping tabs” and “Put inactive tabs to sleep after the specified amount of time”

How to Turn Off this feature?

Go to the same way and toggle left-side efficiency mode.
